Creatively Speaking is WRTI's award-winning weekly look into the world of arts and culture. Meet the people behind the footlights and the artists in the spotlight, as Jim Cotter and company introduce you to those who make the performing and visual arts come alive in our region. With regular segments covering music, dance, theatre, literature, and the fine arts, as well as features on our region's most significant historic and architectural treasures, Creatively Speaking is your weekly window into the world of arts and culture, news, issues, events, and the characters that make them happen.
Featured on Creatively Speaking | | Tap into the pulse of the region with the lowdown on the latest local theatre productions, or get up and close and personal with your favorite performers. Interviews both in the studio and out in the field give you a unique glimpse into the lives of artists, from local lighting designers to world-renowned soloists. Some recent guests include Renee Fleming, Christoph Eschenbach, Luciano Pavarotti, Jennifer Higdon, Yo-Yo Ma, Daniel Barenboim, Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison, and the actor Ed Harris.
In addition to the show's weekly contributors, David Patrick Sterns, music writer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, regularly contributes content also. The executive producer of Creatively Speaking is Jack Moore. The program's theme music was written by Bill Jolly and commissioned by the American Composers Forum, Philadelphia Chapter, with funds provided by the William Penn Foundation.
