An Eerie and Enchanted Organ Spectacular on WRTI! October 31 at 5 PM

Nothing evokes the fear associated with Halloween like the sound of a well-delivered minor chord on a pipe organ. On Saturday, October 31st, from 5 to 6 pm, WRTI presents an hour of music perfectly suited to a setting sun and a night of fright!

Join us for a Halloween Organ Extravaganza, which combines thrilling organ repertoire, both traditional and novel, into a fun Halloween evening on WRTI.

Three of the world's most celebrated organists, Peter Richard Conte, Paul Jacobs, and Ken Cowan bring you music guaranteed to make you look over your shoulder, under your bed, and into those dark recesses where your deepest fears tread.

Performed on the Kimmel Center's Fred J. Cooper Memorial Organ, highlights include Bach's Toccata & Fugue in D minor, Saint-Saen's Danse Macbre, and special transcriptions of Musorsky's Night on Bald Mountain.  And if you listen very carefully we may be able to summon a little something from Leopold Stokowski himself. Listen...if you dare.

Program:

Bach: Toccata & Fugue in D minor - Paul Jacobs, organ

Gounod: Funeral March of a Marionette - Peter Richard Conte, organ with Andrew Ennis, Flugelhorn

Saint-Saens: Danse Macabre - Ken Cowen, organ
