After 14 years as associate concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra, Michael Ludwig made a bold move – he decided to pursue the path of soloist. Now he's enjoying an exciting international career and is currently on the roster of the prestigious Columbia Artists Management, Inc. (CAMI), a company that is known for managing the careers of the world's most prominent artists. Recent engagements have taken him to concert stages in China, Spain, Germany, Poland, Korea, and Israel – and many venues throughout the United States.
Michael can melt your heart playing a Bach Partita, and then keep you at the edge of your seat with a virtuosic performance of one of the most technically challenging works in the violin repertoire - Ernst's The Last Rose of Summer.
Van Cliburn joined Michael in a performance of Rachmaninoff's Vocalise at a chamber music recital in 2007. The legendary pianist praised Michael's "gorgeous sound and his heartfelt passion and intensity."
Trained by his father Irving Ludwig, a longtime violinist with The Philadelphia Orchestra who passed away last March, Michael is known for his "old-school" style of playing, which harkens back to masters like David Oistrakh, Jascha Heifetz, and Nathan Milstein.
