If You Missed Wanamaker Organ Day, Hear it Sunday, July 3rd at 5 pm on WRTI!

Wanamaker Organ Console

In a special re-broadcast this Sunday at 5 pm on WRTI, Peter Richard Conte, host of our Wanamaker Organ Hour, performs on and emcees the Wanamaker Organ Day program, which originally aired June 4th.

He will be joined by Monty Maxwell, organist for the United States Naval Academy, Walt Strony, the only living organist to have received the “Organist of the Year” award twice from the American Theatre Organ Society, and flugelhornist Andrew Ennis, who is also an organist and pianist.

Ennis and Conte will play the Ennis organ duo arrangement of “Pines of the Appian Way” from Respighi’s Pines of Rome. Also on the broadcast will be music by Richard Wagner, Joseph Jongen, César Franck, and the E. Power Biggs arrangement of The Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa.

It’s a powerhouse lineup this Saturday!

And don’t forget, every other first Sunday of the month from 5 to 6 pm, listen to recordings by Peter Richard Conte, Macy’s Grand Court organist, from Macy’s in Center City Philadelphia. The Wanamaker Organ Hour is produced with the cooperation of the Friends of the Wanamaker Organ.
