The Philadelphians in Concert on WRTI: Johannes Moser Plays Elgar's Cello Concerto, July 24, 1 PM

Cellist Johannes Moser

The wit and sparkle of Beethoven’s 8th Symphony, the nobility of one of the cornerstones of the cello repertory, Elgar’s Cello Concerto—played by the German-Canadian cellist Johannes Moser—and the brilliant set of Haydn Variations that led the 40-year-old Brahms to complete his first symphony three years later are all yours to enjoy on this Sunday’s Philadelphia Orchestra in Concert re-broadcast.

Conductor Donald Runnicles

Donald Runnicles, general music director of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, chief conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony, and much-admired Philadelphia Orchestra collaborator will be on the podium to conduct.

During intermission, WRTI’s Bliss Mickelson speaks with the gifted cellist Johannes Moser, and Susan Lewis sits down for an illuminating discussion with Donald Runnicles.
