WRTI and the Friends of the Wanamaker Organ invite you to a day-long musical extravaganza celebrating the 105th anniversary of the world's largest pipe organ.

Jill Pasternak will present a live Crossover show featuring Grand Court Organist Peter Richard Conte, and Mormon Tabernacle Organist Richard Elliott from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Tune in when Jill Pasternak offers a taste of this new album from cellist Yo-Yo Ma. It's a musical holiday party, and the eclectic guest list includes Renee Fleming, Alison Kraus, Paquito D'Rivera, and James Taylor.

Jill Pasternak presents a live broadcast from Macy's in downtown Philadelphia. WRTI invites you to a free, day-long musical extravaganza celebrating the 104th anniversary of world's largest pipe organ. Jill's live Crossover show will feature Grand Court Organist Peter Richard Conte and other guest performers from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. In addition, special concerts and displays will be combined with tours of the cavernous pipe chambers.

Considered by many to be the greatest tenor of his time, Luciano Pavarotti, "King of the High C's," died at age 71 in September 2007. Jill Pasternak and Jack Moore examine the life and career of the opera superstar.

At age 78, the famed soprano and arts booster Beverly Sills passed away in Manhattan. Born Belle Miriam Silverman in Brooklyn, New York, Sills debuted in Philadelphia in 1947. She went on to win praise for her silvery sound as well as her dedication to the arts in New York City. Jill Pasternak and Jack Moore pay tribute to the opera legend.

Crossover with Jill Pasternak is WRTI's weekly interview show spotlighting notable music and musicians. While the show centers on the worlds of classical music and true, acoustically-driven jazz, it's not unusual to hear music and personalities from the periphery as well.

Crossover is totally unscripted and spontaneous, so it sounds like nothing else on the dial--more like friends chatting over coffee than a broadcast interview.

This week on Crossover, Jill speaks with singer, composer and star of the musical stage, Colm Wilkinson. A man of many musical talents, Wilkinson moved from pop in the 70's in his native Ireland to international fame as the original Jean Valjean in the London and Broadway productions of Les Miserables, and the phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. They'll discuss his long career and his newest CD release Some of My Best Friends are Songs.

Two noteworthy jazz musicians visit with Jill. Mark Kramer, pianist, and legendary bassist Eddie Gomez will talk about their newest album, Art of the Heart, and their innovative approach to interpreting some standards from the Broadway stage and the American Songbook.

Jill talks tango this week. The second Mighty Milonga is upon us. It was so successful last year that it's being repeated again. The Tango Festival is the brainchild of Temple's Center for Research in Dance Education, and it's a fundraiser supporting projects that will integrate dance education into the public schools. Program Coordinator, Elizabeth Seyler speaks in detail about the event along with Allan Krantz, guitarist, who will also perform. If you love tango, either dancing or watching it done by professionals, you can't miss it.

The Greater Philadelphia Japan-America Society's annual Cherry Blossom Festival is in full swing, and Jill Pasternak celebrates with the thundering sounds of Taiko drummers Kim Arrow and Bill Welsh. Also featured, the music of pianist, composer, bandleader and jazz legend Toshiko Akiyoshi, and some authentic Koto music from the Tadao Sawai Koto Ensemble.
