Renowned Fine Art Photographer Andrea Baldeck's New Book

The in-demand fine art photographer Andrea Baldeck has a new book out - Bones, Books, and Bell Jars: Photographs of the Mutter Museum.  Its black-and-white close ups of  soft-tissue medical specimens, hard human skeletons, and shiny steel instruments bring together just a few of Baldeck’s lifelong interests.

Scottish playwright J.M. Barrie wrote the now-classic adventure tale of Peter Pan as a play for children in 1904.  He transformed it into a novel in 1911.

TEMPUS FUGIT (Time Flies) at the American Philosophical Society Museum

Among all of Benjamin Franklin’s many gifts to Philadelphia and the nation - free libraries, fire companies, lightning rods, bifocals, and the University of Pennsylvania - The American Philosophical Society, founded in 1743,  is one of his rarer gems.

Despite the large statue of Franklin above the main entrance, many people may unknowingly walk right past the centuries-old Society, which is discreetly housed in a neo-classical building in Old City.
