The Philadelphia jazz community has showered WRTI's Bob Perkins with a bevy of honors.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the preservation of jazz, Bob was an honoree at the 18th annual Tony Williams Scholarship Jazz Festival. He was presented with the Paul Robeson Freedom Fighter Award by the West Philadelphia Cultural Alliance at the Jazz at the Lansdowne Concert. And the City of Philadelphia awarded him with an official Citation signed by Mayor Michael Nutter for over 40 years of service as jazz radio host, jazz historian, and jazz advocate.

WRTI jazz hosts Bob Perkins and Harrison Ridley, Jr., were honored by the Black Entertainment and Music Association (BEMA) for their contributions to the art of jazz on June 28 at the Philadelphia Clef Club. BEMA also designated WRTI a 2008 Media Honoree.
The ceremony included the awarding of citations, announcements of Perkins' and Ridley's honorary lifetime memberships to BEMA, and the screening of a video highlighting the accomplishments of each honoree. Both jazz hosts were also added to BEMA's Hall of Fame and archival library.
