Celebrating the influence of the Philadelphia visionary musician, philosopher, composer, and band leader Sun Ra, Philadelphia Jazz Project presents Satellites Are Spinning: A Sizzling, Sonic Celebration of Sun Ra.

It’s the 20th Anniversary of The Bridge with J. Michael Harrison, which airs every Friday night at 10 pm. It's “the Bridge between BeBop and Hip Hop, and everything in between." WRTI’s Maureen Malloy reports that J. Michael has always set his sights on music that makes the listener wonder...“Is that jazz?”

It's Jazz Appreciation Month on WRTI!

And since that time we've been honoring jazz greats every April, and so has the City of Philadelphia.

Celebrating 20 Years of "The Bridge" on WRTI

This year, J. Michael Harrison is celebrating 20 years of his show, The Bridge, on WRTI. As part of the celebration, there will be a very special installment of the Kimmel Center’s Sittin’ In, a live series of free concerts/jam sessions.

We have a great night in store for you on The Bridge! During the first half of the 10 pm hour, violinist and pianist Ben Sutin chats about his latest exploits, and then trumpeter Chris Stevens (who just made his film debut in La La Land) and Grammy-nominated vocalist Yocontalie Jackson will be in the studio to close out the hour. The 11 pm hour brings an encore broadcast of a 2015 conversation with the late Grammy-winning vocalist Al Jarreau.
