Whether it's light or dark or exotic, it's hot on Now is the Time, Sunday, August 5th at 10 pm. Sainte-Croix takes us to a Central American jungle; Vierk, to the desert with multi-tracked cellos. Korean-American Yoon is recorded live, with water bowls and bells, and Stiefel is all sci-fi electronics and guitar. Benjamin Britten's comedy Albert Herring takes place in the English countryside where meek mama’s boy Albert (tenor Alek Shrader) reluctantly becomes his village’s first May King when no maidens of sufficient virtue can be found. Soprano Christine Brewer stars as the formidable Lady Billows. Saturday, August 4th, 1 to 4:15 pm

A special evening is in store for you as host J. Michael Harrison welcomes two fascinating musicians to The Bridge: Senegalese kora player Ablaye Cissoko and German jazz trumpet player Volker Goetze. It's been several years since their last appearance on the show, and a lot has transpired. 

The duo will discuss their new CD, Amanke Dionti, the follow up to the critically acclaimed recording, Sira, and share details of a recently completed documentary that provides unique insight into Cissoko's life in Senegal.

Here's a live performance of Philadelphia's own Melody Gardot performing "Your Heart Is As Black As Night." Ms. Gardot has been on tour this summer, and will perform at the Merriam Theatre for a one-night show on September 29th. Her new album is The Absence.
