Sunday, December 2This month’s Wanamaker Organ Hour, hosted by Grand Court Organist Peter Richard Conte, and WRTI’s Jill Pasternak, features a fascinating guest. Stephanie Liem, a 4th year organ student at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, has been playing the organ since age 9. An inspiring story accompanies Miss Liem, as she recently developed tremors in her left hand and left leg. After being approached to perform a fund-raising concert for WE MOVE, an organization which supports research for movement disorders, she began to investigate her own situation, and to ultimately champion a cause which seeks to aid those suffering from this mysterious disease. She has recently been accepted to Harvard University, in pursuit of a medical career.
Sunday, November 4 Join us for another installment in the Wanamaker Organ Hour from Macy's in downtown Philadelphia. Jill Pasternak and Peter Richard Conte welcome Gordon Turk to the show. Dr. Turk is resident organist of the historic Auditorium in Ocean Grove, NJ. In the spacious acoustics of this hall he plays weekly recitals during the summer season on the large pipe organ of five manuals and 10,000 pipes.
As a critically acclaimed concert organist, Turk has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. As a composer he has written compositions for string orchestra, woodwinds, organ, piano, voice, and chorus. |
