Robert Ballard
Philadelphia, PA – WRTI's Windsor Johnston interviews oceanographer Robert Ballard, best known for discovering the remains of the Titanic in 1985. He also found wrecks of the battleship Bismarck in 1989, the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown in 1998 and more recently, in 2002, the remains of John F. Kennedy's PT-109. Ballard talks about his discoveries, the advancement of technology, and his personal feelings about a ship that was once considered the "unsinkable." Ballard was the first speaker in the 2007-2008 Philadelphia Speakers Series, presented by Widener University and sponsored by WRTI.
