After five decades and more than 300 concerts, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia finished its 50th anniversary season with a special commemorative performance in Verizon Hall in early May. Maestro Dirk Brossé conducted a spirited program, which you can hear this Sunday, May 17, 5 to 6 pm on WRTI.
The concert opened with Brossé’s Fanfare for Philadelphia, followed by the exuberant Toccata Festiva by Pennsylvania native Samuel Barber, featuring organist Alan Morrison from The Curtis Institute of Music. Ludwig Van Beethoven’s triumphant Symphony No. 5 served as a fitting grand crescendo to the performance. Listen to the live recorded concert broadcast! Dave Conant is your host, Sunday at 5 pm, on WRTI 90.1 FM and online at wrti.org.
