Jun 3, 2018

Shortly after arriving in Tel Aviv, four musicians from The Philadelphia Orchestra, accompanied by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, visited Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam, translated as "Oasis of Peace"— a coopertiave community founded by Jewish and Palestinian Arab citizens of Israel.

Organized by Israeli-born cellist Udi Bar-David, the outing—which featured a concert for children—is one of several planned outreach activities.

Quartet members include: Amy Oshiro-Morales, violin; Ricardo Morales, principal clarinet; Udi Bar-David, cello; Meng Wang, viola.

"We make music because we think it’s the best language. It’s the language of happiness; it’s the language of freedom; it’s the language of peace." —Excerpt from speech by Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
