WRTI's Philadelphia Orchestra in Concert broadcast on Sunday, June 2 at 1 PM brings you a work the Orchestra has performed as often as any in its history, the Symphony No. 2 by Sergei Rachmaninoff, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
A work first performed by the Orchestra under the direction of the composer himself, the Symphony No. 2 is the second of three symphonies Rachmaninoff would compose before leaving Russia after the Russian Revolution.
During intermission, WRTI’s Susan Lewis has a conversation with Ricardo Morales, the Philadelphia Orchestra’s extraordinary Principal Clarinet, who talks about the challenges of the famous third-movement clarinet solo in the Rachmaninoff. Also on the program is Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra!
Don’t miss this archival broadcast, coming to you on WRTI 90.1, the WRTI mobile app, and streaming worldwide at wrti.org on June 2nd at PM, and June 3rd at 7 PM on WRTI HD-2.
