Join us on Sunday, December 8th at 1 PM for a Philadelphia Orchestra in Concert re-broadcast that brings back to the podium Musical America’s 2015 Conductor of the Year, Gianandrea Noseda, for a concert from 2016 that begins with Liszt’s orchestrally dazzling Symphonic Poem No 6, “Mazeppa,” and a performance by renowned violinist Leonidas Kavakos of Jean Sibelius' Violin Concerto.
Noseda, who is music director of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C., has not only propelled the Teatro Regio Torino into the ranks of the leading opera houses of the world since becoming its music director in 2007, but has appeared with The Philadelphia Orchestra every season since his debut in December 2010, and established a warm and productive relationship with the Philadelphians.
Sunday’s program concludes with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1, “Winter Daydreams.”
During intermission, WRTI’s Susan Lewis speaks backstage with the Maestro. Don’t miss this concert of big orchestral showpieces, on Sunday, December 8th from 1 to 3 PM here on WRTI 90.1.
