Despite having arrived a little late for the peak of the city's live music scene, a Philadelphia jazz musician has kept himself busy for almost four decades. WRTI's Jim Cotter reports.
Vibraphonist Tony Miceli caught the tail-end of the hay-days of live jazz when he first began playing professionally in the 1970s.
After September 11th, 2001, everything changed. The somber mood that descended meant fewer patrons for the clubs, fewer gigs in those clubs, and ultimately fewer clubs. Miceli, though, rolled with it. He started a website for vibraphonists that opened up a new world to him.
And these are not just online friends. Miceli is regularly invited to these places to perform, record, and give workshops. He says he's grateful for the life music has given him.
