“I still get goosebumps hearing the instrument up close.” That’s what WRTI production manager Joe Patti says about the Wanamaker Organ. Join Joe as Macy’s Grand Court Organist Peter Richard Conte hosts an hour of organ music live from Macy’s in Center City Saturday, June 3rd, 11 am to 12 noon on WRTI.
He’ll perform—along with Todd Wilson, Steven Ball, Andrew Ennis, and Rudy Lucente—an extraordinary program of organ works at this annual tradition that celebrates the world’s largest operational pipe organ.
How great are these broadcasts? Joe Patti:
“I’ve been present at the store to engineer 11 live Organ Day broadcasts, and I still get goosebumps hearing the instrument up close. I wish listeners could be there to hear it, yet bringing the Wanamaker Organ to a wider audience over WRTI is quite satisfying. Airing the Wanamaker Organ on WRTI is, I feel, one of our most important local programming efforts, especially when it’s broadcast live.”
Tune in Saturday morning at 11! Wanamaker Organ Day is part of a two-day series of events starting at noon on Friday, June 2nd, and concluding with the Grand Evening Concert at 8:30 pm on Saturday, June 3rd.
