Episode 2

At the beginning of the pandemic, Yannick Nézet-Séguin was struck by how we so often turn to music in this time of isolation in order to find a sense of connection and hope. This reminded him of the power of music to shine a light even during the darkest moments, getting us through to the other side. The music on this program features some of the pieces that Yannick has turned to in times of struggle – music that’s helped him keep his faith in life, humanity, and the triumph of goodness in the world.

Program:

Elgar: Enigma Variations, "Nimrod," Sir Colin Davis and the London Symphony Orchestra

Beethoven: Symphony 6, V. Hirtengesang. Frohe und dankbare Gefühle nach dem Sturm, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and The Philadelphia Orchestra
