The Cuban-born, Philadelphia-based composer and percussionist Arturo Stable possesses a unique and refreshing percussive sound that can shift seamlessly whether he’s collaborating or leading his jazz ensembles.

Stable grew up in a family of artists in Santiago de Cuba, and once drawn to music began to absorb musical styles from other areas of the world, including American jazz.

In 2001, he enrolled at the Berklee College of Music, and in 2006 he earned a master’s degree in music from Philadelphia’s University of the Arts.

“I’ve known percussionist Arturo Stable for quite some time and I’ve been fortunate to experience his musical efforts on numerous occasions,” says WRTI Jazz Host and NPR Live Session Executive Producer J. Michael Harrison.

“His passion, energy, and charisma has always impressed me. He has a vibe that exudes music. Securing an NPR Live Session at WRTI with his trio last year meant a lot to me personally. Please enjoy Arturo’s trio featuring the gifted pianist Roberta Piket and accomplished bassist Yunior Terry.”
