Music for Thanksgiving

All of your friends at WRTI wish you a peaceful and joyful Thanksgiving. We're so happy to bring you this very special Thanksgiving playlist—selected lovingly by our hosts and content staff. It's music we can all be grateful for.

Traveling may be on hold, and the gathering of friends and family may not be around the usual table this year, but no matter where you are and what you’re feasting on, WRTI’s Thanksgiving Day soundtrack is your perfect companion.

Stay tuned to WRTI all day as we share classical music that’s sure to keep you calm and focused as you stuff that bird or keep Uncle Doug from “testing out” dessert before dinner. Set the table with Mark Pinto from 6 to 10 AM, and then Bliss Michelson takes over from 10 AM to 2 PM as you’re warming up those sweet potatoes. Just in time for the guests, we’re serving up four hours of Thanksgiving specials to create the perfect musical backdrop for your gathering.

November 25, 2019. While Thanksgiving is an American holiday, composers from different countries and cultures have been using music to express gratitude and thanks for centuries.  Our album of the week is the compilation album, Give Thanks: Classical Music for Thanksgiving.
