Singers

Celebrate the season with us as we look back to Craft Works Music's visit to the WRTI Performance Studio last year to sing madrigals and other works inspired by springtime. WRTI's Susan Lewis is host.

January 6, 2019. Looking for some good old-fashioned fun? Here it is. Rachael Price has made a name for herself as lead vocalist of Lake Street Dive, the harmonizing folk-rockers erring on the side of Motown. What fans of her sound might not know is that, for years, she’d been dying to sing jazz, more specifically the kinds of tunes popularized by the big-band singers of the '30s and '40s.

Warm up for the 2019 Silent Night Sing-In with Wissahickon High School's Camerata, a select choir of 32 vocalists led by John Conahan. They sing John's arrangements of "Silent Night" and "O Come All Ye Faithful," in the WRTI Performance Studio, along with some other beautiful songs. WRTI's Gregg Whiteside is host.

This month marks the 200th anniversary of the beloved Christmas carol “Silent Night," and we're inviting you to celebrate! Come sing at a free, community performance of a new arrangement of the song by Philadelphia composer John Conahan, who will conduct the work. WRTI's Gregg Whiteside will be your host.

After 26 years of bringing us the stories and sounds of traditional jazz and swing — early jazz from the streets of New Orleans to the music of Harlem clubs in the '20s — Riverwalk Jazz is coming to an end. The program, adored by WRTI listeners, will air for the last time on Sunday, January 3rd at 6 pm.

You can still listen to podcasts of the show here!
