Where cabaret meets classical, the mixed-media company ENAensemble tells stories through staged theatrical performances, using film, cabaret, classical works, and opera. On January 30th, members of the ensemble performed musical highlights from their upcoming program, Chasing the Moon at WRTI. Susan Lewis was host.

Praised for her "superb technique" and "mesmerizing grace" (New York Classical Review), violinist Danbi Um visited WRTI on January 25, 2019 to play highlights from her upcoming Philadelphia recital and chat with WRTI's Susan Lewis. 


Continuing WRTI 90.1’s tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the dynamic baritone Keith Spencer joined us on the air and on Facebook for a program that explored the rich musical legacy of the African-American experience, with host Debra Lew Harder.

When Craig Knox premiered Jennifer Higdon's Tuba Concerto with the Pittsburgh Symphony last March, his performance was acclaimed as one that "hit it outta Heinz Hall." (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette). Along with pianist Thomas Weaver and conductor Mark Russell Smith, Knox visited WRTI to perform selections from that concerto and chat with WRTI's Susan Lewis on January 24th at 12:10 PM.

Described by The Washington Post as a pianist with "power, precision, and romantic abandon," Clipper Erickson was our guest on MLK Jr. Day, Monday, January 21, and played works by R. Nathaniel Dett (1882-1943), an African-Canadian/American composer whose music may be new to you. WRTI's Kevin Gordon was host.

Pianist and cultural advocate Marja Kaisla visited the WRTI 90.1 Performance Studio in early January to set the mood for her upcoming concert at Woodmere Art Museum's Music at Woodmere concert series. She played music by Chopin and chatted with WRTI's Susan Lewis.

Internationally renowned Klezmer trombonist Dan Blacksberg and his All-Star Klezmer Ensemble were our guests for a lively celebration of the Jewish Festival of Lights! Dan was joined by trumpeter/vocalist Susan Watts, accordionist Christina Crowder, bassist Zoe Guigeno and host Debra Lew Harder.
