At age 78, the famed soprano and arts booster Beverly Sills passed away in Manhattan. Born Belle Miriam Silverman in Brooklyn, New York, Sills debuted in Philadelphia in 1947. She went on to win praise for her silvery sound as well as her dedication to the arts in New York City. Jill Pasternak and Jack Moore pay tribute to the opera legend.Resources:
