Vehicle Donation

WRTI Vehicle Donation Program

Support Classical Music and Jazz on WRTI.

WRTI’s Vehicle Donation Program accepts the vehicles you no longer want or need. Cars, trucks, campers, boats and motorcycles can all be turned into a tax deduction for you and financial support for WRTI.

Fill out the form at the bottom of this page or call our Vehicle Donation Hotline at 1-844-WRTI-CAR or 1-844-978-4227 to arrange for pick-up.

What can I donate?
You can donate most vehicles to WRTI, including cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles and recreational vehicles.  Your vehicle will be sold at auction and a portion of the proceeds of the sale will come to WRTI.  WRTI’s Vehicle Donation Program accepts donations in the Philadelphia and tri-state areas.

How does the program work?
Please call 1-844-978-4227 to donate your vehicle.  After your vehicle information is gathered, a partnering tow company will schedule a pick-up.  At the time of the pick-up, you will provide the keys and signed title to the driver who will give you a receipt.

What information do I need to provide in order to donate my vehicle?
The vehicle’s title must be in your name.  To assist in scheduling towing arrangements, information about the location and condition of the vehicle will be needed.

How much revenue does WRTI receive from the donated vehicles?
WRTI receives 80% of the revenue generated from the sale of vehicles brought to auction, excluding fees.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. WRTI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and donations may qualify as a charitable deduction on your federal income tax return.

Do I pay for towing?
No, there is no charge for towing.

How long will I have to wait before my vehicle is picked up?
Typically, your vehicle will be picked up in two to four business days.  The towing company will schedule the pick-up.

What do you do with the vehicles?
The vehicles are taken to an auction and sold to the highest bidder.

How is the value of my vehicle determined?
The IRS allows you to take a charitable tax deduction on your federal income tax form equal to the amount the vehicle sells for at auction unless it sells for less than $500. If your vehicle sells for less than $500 you may deduct no more than $500.  If your vehicle sells for more than $500, you may need to fill out IRS Form 8283 (http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f8283.pdf) “Noncash Charitable Contributions.” We recommend that you consult your tax adviser with questions about your deduction.

Who and what is "CARS?"
CARS is the longest running vehicle donation program for public media in the country. Since 2003, CARS has been considered the most trusted partner in vehicle donations for public media. WRTI is proud to partner with CARS to process your vehicle donation. Visit the CARS website for more information.
