April 2, 2018. The reviews are in! Pianist Seong-Jin Cho has put together a splendid recording of the keyboard music of Claude Debussy. Just listen to his new Debussy album.
Cho's marvelous interpretations make one realize that new discoveries in performance still take place, even a century after the composer’s death. That’s equally true for the disc’s oft-recorded works, which include both books of Images, L’Îsle joyeuse, The Children’s Corner, and Suite bergamasque.
Fresh from his recent win at the Chopin International Piano Competition, the 24-year-old has already appeared with orchestras all over the world. Just last year he debuted with Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic, replacing Lang Lang during parts of the ensemble’s Asian tour.
Originally from Seoul, Cho is now a resident of Paris, where he’s continued his studies with French pianist Michel Béroff. The gifted pianist already has three recordings under his belt for Deutsche Grammophon. His Debussy album is proof we'll be hearing more. Enjoy!
