This is a piano trio concert featuring Nancy Bean, violin; Lloyd Smith, cello; and Cynthia Raim, piano. We celebrate the 150th anniversary of Ralph Vaughan Williams' birth with his lush and lovely "Charterhouse Suite" for strings, beautifully transformed by Frank James Staneck into a work for violin and piano -- a World Premiere in this configuration. Following is Beethoven's jaunty and light-hearted Violin Sonata No. 8 in G Major. They are then joined by cellist Lloyd Smith in a performance of Robert Schumann's energetic and virtuosic Piano Trio No. 2 in F Major, Op. 80.
