Meiravi String Quartet Presents - Music Transforms
The Philadelphia-based MEIRAVI QUARTET will perform at Wayne Presbyterian Church on Sunday, January 15 at 4pm. The program includes the world premiere of String Quartet No. 6, “Spring Journal” by Peter Nocella, a member of the quartet.
The Quartet is unusual, not only because of its composer-in-residence, but also because the group is experienced in playing both the classical and contemporary repertoire. Often music from a variety of genres may be offered including jazz, popular, folk, and world music: a tango from Argentina, a Gershwin song, a folk song from the Inuits, or a Chinese lullaby. Every performance will include some musical surprises—and at least one work by an American composer.
MUSIC TRANSFORMS concerts take place several times annually at Wayne Presbyterian church. Concerts are free, with free parking on Sundays. A free-will offering benefits music education at schools connected with The Common Place in Southwest Philadelphia.
