Philadelphia Chamber Music Society Presents: Singing Freedom II at the Kimmel Center

Composer Mason Bynes asks, “How does one create music for joy and sorrow, for challenge and triumph, for jubilance and anguish? Can sorrow, strife, and yearning inform joy, peace, and attainment?” Bynes explores these questions in her latest work, which is informed by Freedom on the Move, the Cornell University database devoted to the experiences of enslaved people seeking freedom in North America.

The renowned Pine Forge Academy Honors Choir, directed by Jarrett Roseborough, gives its world premiere on our second Singing Freedom program.
