Singing City Spring Concert: To Be Certain of the Dawn and Friede auf Erden (Peace on Earth) in Bryn Mawr
Jeffrey Brillhart conducts Stephen Paulus' To Be Certain of the Dawn and Arnold Schoenberg's Friede auf Erden (Peace on Earth) featuring Singing City Choir, The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Girls Choir, and Philharmonia - with soloists Kara Goodrich, soprano; Michael Hogue, tenor; Misoon Ghim, mezzo-soprano; Daniel Teadt, baritone; and Elizabeth Shammash, cantor, mezzo-soprano.
To Be Certain of the Dawn is a Holocaust oratorio that is at once beautiful and powerful. This illustrious work commemorates the nearly one million children who perished in the Holocaust. Friede auf Erden (Peace on Earth) is a milestone in twentieth-century choral music, and also a sermon on hope.
An art exhibition featuring the works of Reena Brooks will accompany the concert in BMPC's newly redesigned gallery. Saturday, May 13 at 7 p.m., Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church
