Higdon Fanfare Ritmico
Rachmaninoff Symphonic Dances
Yannick and Your Philadelphia Orchestra begin the Orchestra’s 124th season with a spectacular celebration! Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1—fiendishly challenging for the player and deeply rewarding for the audience—showcases 19-time GRAMMY® winner Yo-Yo Ma at the peak of his artistry. Jennifer Higdon’s Fanfare Ritmico bursts with energy. Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances, his final composition and the coda to a life of astonishing gifts, is a masterpiece of rhythmic propulsion, lyricism, and colorful orchestration.
