Curtis Institute of Music – Graduation Recital: Taek Gi Lee, piano
Facebook Livestream: May 14, 8:00p.m. ET
Pianist Taek Gi Lee begins his recital with the serpentine Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue by J. S. Bach. The performance continues with a sonata by Domenico Scarlatti, one of 555 keyboard sonatas Scarlatti composed in the service of Barbara, Queen of Spain, followed by two evocative pieces from 20th-century France. After Sergey Prokofiev’s dissonant and emotional Piano Sonata No. 7, written during the bitterest years of the Second World War, the recital reaches a thrilling conclusion with a ferocious showstopper by Franz Liszt.
