Tri-County Concerts presents award-winning Merz Trio
Tri-County Concerts concludes this season’s virtual Emerging Artists Series with the versatile and energetic Merz Trio performing Beethoven’s Piano Trio No. 6 in E-flat Major, Ravel’s Piano Trio in A minor, and the group’s own arrangement of Debussy’s Slow Waltz. The concert is available for viewing anytime from April 14 through 28 on a pay-what-you-wish basis after free registration at www.tricountyconcerts.org/emerging_artists.
Composed of players hailed as “impressive” (The New York Times), “impeccable” (Fanfare Magazine), and showing “joyful virtuosity” (South Florida Classical Review), Merz Trio has quickly become known for its “riveting” and "stunning” work as an ensemble (Reading Eagle). Since forming in 2017, the group won the top prizes at the 2019 Concert Artists Guild and Fischoff Competitions as well as the Gold Prize and Audience Choice Award at the 2018 Chesapeake Competition. It was also the graduate piano trio in residence at the New England Conservatory of Music from 2018 to 2020, where this concert was recorded.
