Jill interviews noted actor Saul Rubinek about his performance and role in Marc Neikrug's riveting Holocaust-related music-theater piece, Through Roses.
In this special program you'll hear the entire Through Roses performance, which includes Atis Bankas on violin.
Marc Neikrug's Through Roses features acclaimed theater, film, and television actor Saul Rubinek as violinist Carl Stern. Stern is tormented by memories of Auschwitz, where through the rose hedges of the camp commandant's garden, where he was forced to perform for Nazi officials, he watched as others, including his own wife, were marched to their deaths.
Through Roses has been performed hundreds of times throughout the world and translated into 11 languages. When it premiered in New York City 27 years ago, The New York Times called it an "extraordinary achievement."
In observance of the 70th anniversary of Kristallnacht, a live performance of Through Roses, starring Saul Rubinek, will be performed at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York on November 13 at 7 pm.
