The distinguished conductor, violinist, and composer Lorin Maazel, known for his perfect pitch and photographic memory, has stood as one of the master conductors of our era for more than 50 years. For the last seven he has led the world-renowned New York Philharmonic with artistry and passion. Currently, Maazel is music director of the Santiago Calatrava-designed opera house in Valencia, Spain, the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, which opened at the start of the 2006/07 season. For the next two seasons he will conduct the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana for 24 performances, which will include two new opera productions, repertory productions, and symphonic concerts.
