Tango Fire: Burning Passion, Exquisitely Alluring

What's new? Tango Fire...an ensemble that has taken the world by storm. Five couples and four musicians who have danced their way into the soul of tango lovers, far and wide.

Our guest, German Cornejo, dancer, choreographer and founder of Tango Fire, speaks about the origins and changes in the dance itself.  We'll also hear music from Quarteto Fuego, the brilliant accompanists of Tango Fire led by the sultry violin virtuosa Estefani Corsini, as they dig down deep and dirty to bring us the soul of this erotic, exotic and transporting music.

Tango Fire with Quarteto Fuego performs one show only, this Sunday afternoon, October 20th at 4 pm at the Merriam Theater in Philadelphia. Ticket info here. Tell them we sent you!

Also on the program, we'll revisit an interview from March 2012 with Latin pianist Pablo Ziegler.  The pianist of Astor Piazzolla's own ensemble for a decade, Ziegler infuses his performances of Piazzolla's masterworks with a powerful blend of firsthand knowledge and originality, mixing classic tango rhythms, jazz improvisation, artistry and sensuality.
