Quartetto di Cremona: Tailor-Made Music from Italy
Tailor-made you may be asking? Well, according to Strad Magazine, the Quartetto di Cremona is "...as sleek and elegant as an Armani suit.” And it's true. Every performer should have a tailor like that!
Artists-in-residence in Milan and at the Academy Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Quartetto di Cremona (Cristiano Gualco, violin; Paolo Andreoli, violin; Simone Gramaglia, viola; and Giovanni Scaglione, cello) enjoys an international reputation for artistic and thoughtful interpretations of repertoire from classical to contemporary.
Jill speaks with the Quartet's violist, Simone Gramaglia, about their latest CD on the Audite label, Beethoven String Quartets: Volume 2, and we'll listen to their performance of the E minor String Quartet Opus 59, No. 2 - also known as the Razumovsky No. 2.
