Satchmo at Home, with Ricky Riccardi

Louis Armstrong belonged to the world. But for more than half of his illustrious career, he made his home in Corona, Queens. His residence is now The Louis Armstrong House Museum, a nonprofit landmark and site of pilgrimage. We recently paid a visit to honor Pops and talk with Ricky Riccardi, the museum’s Director of Research Collections — and author of three related biographies, most recently Stomp Off, Let’s Go: The Early Years of Louis Armstrong. We had a blast discussing the incredible journey that brought young Louis from Jane Alley in New Orleans to the grandest stages of the day, and to a humble block in Queens.
