Music of the Ancestors, with Kenny Garrett

Ways To Subscribe

Sound and spirit are inseparable in the music of Kenny Garrett. A saxophonist who served a series of heavy apprenticeships, most notably with Miles Davis, he now stands as a jazz elder himself — one who continues his search for knowledge. Several years ago, around the time of his album Sounds from the Ancestors, he performed on campus at Temple University. He sat down for a conversation with Josh Jackson, and we’re thrilled to bring it to you today as a bonus drop. (Also thrilling: the news that The Late Set is a finalist in two categories at the Signal Awards! Vote for us, here and here.)
