The Philadelphia Orchestra In Concert On WRTI: Yannick Conducts Brahms' German Requiem

This was an unforgettable performance of two works that were crucial in the development of Yannick Nézet-Séguin as a young conductor. On Sunday, January 10th at 1 PM on WRTI and Monday, January 11th at 7 PM on WRTI HD-2, we're rebroadcasting this concert from March, 2011. Yannick conducted The Philadelphia Orchestra, Westminster Symphonic Choir, and soloists Dorothea Roeschmann and Matthias Goerne in a critically acclaimed performance of Johannes Brahms's humanistic and glorious Ein Deutsches Requiem, A German Requiem - a symphonic and choral masterpiece. The program also featured one of the pillars of the classical repertory, Mozart's Symphony No. 40.

We hope you're enjoying WRTI’s Philadelphia Orchestra broadcasts, and find these performances from the archives of our great orchestra spiritually uplifting in these challenging times.

Yannick talks about his deep personal connection to Brahms's choral masterpiece back in 2011 when he was music director designate of The Philadelphia Orchestra.
