WRTI to Broadcast Settlement Centennial Celebration on December 7

Tune in for an unforgettable afternoon on Sunday, December 7 from noon to 2 pm when WRTI's Dave Conant and Settlement Music School Executive Director Robert Capanna co-host a live broadcast of the school's final event in their year-long centennial celebration. The broadcast will feature performances by alumni, faculty and students, and interviews with distinguished guests.

The event will also honor the Settlement 100 - a roster of 100 diverse and unexpected individuals whose Settlement experience helped shape their lives. Honorees include a Nobel Laureate, a MacArthur Fellow, three Pulitzer Prize winners, two Academy Award winners, several elected officials, and distinguished performers in all genres of music.http://stream.publicbroadcasting.net/production/mp3/national/local-national-794241.mp3

Richard K. Marvin, TV score composer for HBO Specials including Six Feet Under and In Treatment, and Desi Alston, violinist with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, DC will be among those interviewed.

Settlement Music School is the largest community school of the arts in the United States with six locations in the Philadelphia area. The school serves more than 15,000 students each year and awards close to $2 million in aid annually.
