Tune in to hear Pachelbel's famous Canon in D, with the Gigue that he wrote to be paired with it, along with some of his works for organ.
Johann Pachelbel, born on September 1st, 1653, was more than a "one-hit-wonder," even if his Canon in D is probably played at as many weddings as Mendelssohn's "Bridal March." The canon was scored for three violins and continuo, but it's also played by brass ensembles, electric guitars, symphony orchestras, organs, string quartets, and many other combinations of instruments and ensembles.
Pachelbel was a very successful composer, and his church music and music for organ also made him a celebrated composer during his lifetime.
