Join us Sunday at 1 pm (one hour earlier than usual) as Garrick Ohlsson plays Brahms, and Yannick returns to the podium to conduct a performance of the Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1 and two lush orchestral works by Richard Strauss - Death and Transfiguration, and a suite from his opera, Der Rosenkavalier!
To this day, Death and Transfiguration is one of the most potent statements on death and dying in all of music, all the more remarkable for having been written by a 25 year-old! And the glorious melodies from Strauss's operatic masterpiece Der Rosenkavalier will have you humming long after the broadcast is over.
During intermission, Jim Cotter speaks with pianist Garrick Ohlss0n.
It all happens Sunday, May 5th from 1 to 3 pm (*one hour earlier than usual) on WRTI 90.1 FM, and the classical stream at wrti.org.
