The Last Hoorah for Riverwalk Jazz! And a New Jazz Show on WRTI Starting Jan. 10th!
After 26 years of bringing us the stories and sounds of traditional jazz and swing — early jazz from the streets of New Orleans to the music of Harlem clubs in the '20s — Riverwalk Jazz is coming to an end. The program, adored by WRTI listeners, will air for the last time on Sunday, January 3rd at 6 pm.
You can still listen to podcasts of the show here!
As a fan of Riverwalk Jazz, you're probably wondering what we have planned for Sunday nights at 6 pm. Not to worry! WRTI's Bob Craig has something up his sleeve! Beginning on Sunday, January 10th, Bob will add a new dimension to his Big Band Jazz program. It’s VOICES in Big Band Jazz! The show starts at 6 pm followed by Big Band Jazz at 7 pm. It's two hours of classic jazz that will have you singin' and swingin' every Sunday!
The new program will feature great singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett, Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra, Anita O’Day, Mark Murphy, Diana Krall, Harry Connick Jr., Carmen McRae and many others in a big band setting.
So, it's the singers at 6 pm...and the swingers at 7 pm. Voices in Big Band Jazz and Big Band Jazz, with host Bob Craig, Sunday evenings on WRTI and streaming online at WRTI.org.
