July 4th Weekend on WRTI: Jazz from A to Z!

Louis Armstrong in 1947

Meet the jazz greats, A to Z, this Independence Day weekend... how American is that? From Armstrong all the way to Washington and beyond, join WRTI starting on Friday, July 1st at 6 pm through the entire Fourth of July holiday with the Jazz A to Z Weekend.
We’ll visit all of the giants and hear the masterpieces that helped shape this great American art form.

And for added rockets’ red glare, check out special performances by the Airmen of Note — some of the finest musicians in the United States Air Force along with some of the top jazz artists of today. Listen to broadcasts featuring Stefon Harris on Friday, July 1st at 9 pm, Walt Weiskopf on Saturday, July 2nd at 8 pm, and Marvin Stamm & Bill Mays on Sunday, July 3rd at 12 noon.

The music will still be going, long after the fireworks have ended! It’s musical sparklers for your long weekend thanks to WRTI’s Jazz A to Z Weekend.

Maureen began her radio career at WRTI in 1999 while studying broadcasting at Temple University. Determined to make it in the entertainment industry, she took advantage of all the creative opportunities presented to her at WRTI - she hosted the overnight jazz broadcasts through her entire college career, she was an arts and culture reporter, and she soaked up the jazz biz from her many WRTI mentors.
