Hear organist Alan Morrison, the Mendelssohn Club Chorus, the Keystone State Boychoir, and the Fred J. Cooper Memorial Organ on WRTI Sunday, January 8th at 5 pm! The “British Organ Invasion” was recorded live at the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall on November 5th, 2016, and WRTI brings it to you for the first organ concert of the season.
The all-British concert features Benjamin Britten’s cantata Rejoice in the Lamb as well as music by Gerald Finzi, Kenneth Leighton, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and by the contemporary composer Gabriel Jackson, loved around the world and here in Philadelphia especially by fans of The Crossing. It will be a program of powerful, elegant, and ethereal sounds of English music for chorus and organ.
The Mendelssohn Club, directed by Paul Rardin, welcomes special guest, the internationally renowned Alan Morrison, who will play the Kimmel Center’s mighty Fred J. Cooper Memorial Organ. They will also be joined by the Keystone State Boychoir, directed by Steven Fisher.
Tune into WRTI from 5 to 6 pm Sunday, January 8th, for the British Organ Invasion!
