Watch and Listen: Latin-American Vocalist Laura Lizcano Live from the WRTI 90.1 Performance Studio

Tyler McClure
Laura Lizcano and her band in the WRTI 90.1 Performance Studio

Jazz singer Laura Lizcano moved to Lykens, PA from her native Columbia when she was ten years old. She felt like a bit of an outsider at school because everything was different in America (even the pronunciation of her own name). When she realized that people really wanted to hear Latin-American music, her life took a positive turn.

Laura and her band performed in the WRTI 90.1 Performance Studio on September 5th, and exhibited  the eclectic style she developed throughout her studies at Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance. The influence of her private studies with Sachal Vasandani, Joanna Pascale.and Greg Kettinger are also apparent.

Her new album is Chance on Me

Watch the performance on the WRTI Facebook page, hosted by J. Michael Harrison.
