Listen: Pianist and Composer Curt Cacioppo and Friends, Live from the WRTI 90.1 Performance Studio

Listen to Grammy-nominated composer Curt Cacioppo perform at the piano with Italian violinist Francesco D’Orazio and French horn player David Wetherill ahead of a concert at Haverford College—which is part of a series that celebrates the bicentennial of Walt Whitman. Debra Lew Harder is host.

Called “a composer of exuberant music, full of improvisational vitality, impulsively heterogenous” (David Patrick Stearns,) Cacioppo has been professor of music at Haverford College since 1983. Italian violinist Francesco D’Orazio has recently given world premieres of numerous violin concerti with the London Symphony Orchestra, Teatro all Scala, Milan, and Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI.

David Wetherill is principal horn emeritus of the Philadelphia Orchestra, before his 30-year tenure with the fabulous Philadelphians, he also played under Ricardo Muti at Teatro alla Scala, and under Pierre Boulez with Ensemble Intercontemperain.

They bring a varied program of Curt’s works that draw inspiration from the poetry of Byron, the legend of Faust, as well as tango. The concert is on April 14th at 3 PM at Haverford College.
