If you're a Bob Perkins faithful listener, then you know that BP's GM (Good Music) isn’t just a cultural touchstone, it’s an education. That’s why, with his 88th birthday upon us on Monday, December 6th, Mr. Perkins deserves the appreciation due a cherished mentor and friend; he deserves a celebration. And we at WRTI are honored to honor him. We’ll start by giving you exclusive access to the most personal part of BP: his favorite music.
Beginning on his birthday, and through his Thursday night show, BP will play his 88 favorite tunes from 6 to 9 PM. That’s one tune for each key of the piano, and one tune for each of Robert Ellis Perkins’ years on Earth.

Also on BP’s special day, we’ll celebrate not just the birthday of our beloved Bob Perkins but also that of the late Dave Brubeck. Now one year removed from celebrating Brubeck’s centennial, BP’s still got plenty to say and share about the groundbreaking jazz pianist with whom he shares a birthday.
