Greg Bryant, host of Evening Jazz, is leaving WRTI at the end of December.

We have sad news to share as we wrap up 2024. Greg Bryant is leaving Philadelphia and WRTI at the end of December.

Greg brought fresh energy to our jazz programming. In addition to his nightly presence on Evening Jazz, Greg hosted and produced The Get Down on Saturday nights, co-hosted The Late Set podcast and created Play It Forward to support new artist releases.

His absence on air will be noticeable to many of you — and all of us who appreciated his steady presence, warm collegiality and strong work ethic. WRTI has begun the process of finding a new evening host. We will continue to deliver a quality jazz experience on air and online until we welcome our next jazz host and producer.

We are grateful for Greg’s contributions and look forward to seeing him thrive on his next exciting mission as a jazz messenger. Please join me in thanking Greg for his dedication and service.

Feel free to leave a comment for Greg at the bottom of this post.

Best,
Josh Jackson

A Message from Greg:

I am writing today to express my gratitude to you for spending time with me these last two years on Evening Jazz and on The Late Set podcast. Music is a healing force in this world, and its importance will continue to increase in the days ahead.

With mixed emotions, I also want you to know that our last day together for Evening Jazz will be on Dec. 31, 2024. As the new year is upon us, my wife and I will be relocating to California. Please know that serving WRTI and the Philadelphia community has been an immense privilege and a true highlight. Jazz on WRTI is thriving, and it will continue to do so with your support. Share WRTI with your friends and family (within and beyond our terrestrial signal reach) and if you aren’t a member, consider joining us now.

Again, I thank you for your support, careful listening ears, and encouragement. Best wishes for a safe and fruitful holiday season.

Take care,
GB

Greg Bryant has been a longtime curator of improvisational music as a broadcaster, writer, host and musician. As a young child, he began absorbing the artistry of Miles Davis, Les McCann, Jimmy Smith, James Brown, Ornette Coleman, Weather Report, and Jimi Hendrix via his parent's record collection. He was so moved by what he was experiencing that he took pride in relaying all of his discoveries with anyone who would listen.
